Year of Pilgrimage: Pilgrims of Hope
In 2025, Pope Francis is inviting the entire Church to embrace the Year of Pilgrimage, a time to deepen our faith through spiritual journeys. A pilgrimage isn’t just about visiting sacred places; it’s about opening our hearts to God, walking together in hope and renewing our commitment to love and serve others. This special year helps us reflect on our personal journey with Christ and live out the message of hope He brings to the world. The Holy Father chose the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ in light of the world suffering from the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic and a climate crisis.
To make this journey even more exciting, our school has its very own pilgrim – Joey the Bear! Joey will be traveling with us on school trips, visiting the church for Mass and even joining staff on international adventures. His travels will help create a sense of awe and wonder, showing our pupils the beauty of God’s creation while reflecting on how we are all pilgrims on a journey of faith.
You will soon be able to follow Joey’s adventures and keep up with his travels on Instagram! Watch as Joey visits new places, experiences the world around him and reminds us all of the joy and excitement of being a pilgrim in God’s world. Join us as we walk together in faith, hope, and love throughout this Year of Pilgrimage – with Joey the Bear as our guide and companion!
Meet Luce: The Official Mascot of the 2025 Jubilee
Luce, the official mascot for the Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee, is a young girl with blue hair, wearing a yellow raincoat, green rubber boots and carrying a pilgrim’s staff. She represents a Catholic pilgrim on a journey of faith. Her yellow raincoat symbolises the Vatican flag and the strength to journey through life’s challenges, while her mud-stained boots reflect the long, difficult road of a pilgrim. Luce’s eyes, shaped like scallop shells, are a symbol of hope and Catholic pilgrimage. She wears a World Mission rosary and is accompanied by her dog, Santino, and friends Fe, Xin and Sky. Through Luce, we are reminded of the hope and faith that guide us on our own spiritual journeys.
