This week in Nursery, we’ve been diving into the wonderful story Zaza’s Baby Brother! The children absolutely loved the book and were full of excitement as we explored all the fun activities connected to it. One of our favourite creative tasks was making zebra faces using a variety of materials to create the stripes. The children used card, tissue paper, and pipe cleaners to design their zebras, each one unique and full of character! We also had great fun acting out the story with our friends – everyone enjoyed taking on the different roles and bringing the story to life.
In maths, our focus was all about patterns. We explored the difference between spots and stripes and looked at how these appear on animals like zebras, leopards, giraffes and tigers. The children did a brilliant job identifying patterns and even started creating some of their own.
Throughout the week, we also spent time looking at pictures of the children as babies. It was so heart-warming to see how excited they were to share their baby photos and talk about how much they’ve grown!
A real highlight of the week was when two lovely mummies came in with their babies to talk to us about what it’s like to have a new baby, just like Zaza does in the story. The children listened so carefully and asked some very thoughtful questions. A big thank you to those mums for visiting us!
To end our week in the sweetest way, we made zebra cookies using Oreos. The children did an amazing job decorating them and, of course, enjoyed a little taste too!
Well done Nursery for such a fantastic, creative, and thoughtful week. We’re so proud of you!
