This week, Year 6 have started working through their next ‘Big Write’ based around the marvellous life of Charles Darwin. The pupils have used the book ‘The Origins of Charles Darwin’ as their vehicle text. We learnt about Darwin’s journey and some of the wonderful biodiversity that he discovered. We also took inspiration from the fact that naturalists did not have cameras to photograph their new findings, but instead, had to sketch what they saw by venturing out to our wonderful forest area and sketching some of the nature around us. We also found how difficult it is to sketch live animals when one of our chickens tried to make an escape, luckily some of our pupils were quick to react and retrieved the chicken.
P.S. No chickens were harmed in the making of this blog!
