This week in Science, Year 6 explored how the distance between a light source and an object affects the size of its shadow. Using torches, pupils carefully moved the light closer to and further away from different objects to observe the changes. They discovered that the closer the torch was to the object, the larger the shadow became, and when the torch was moved further away, the shadow became smaller.
The class recorded their results on a whiteboard before transferring the data into a graph to clearly show their findings. It was a great opportunity to develop their investigative and recording skills while deepening their understanding of how light travels and how shadows are formed.
