Year 6 pupils enjoyed a thought-provoking and engaging Eco Care for Creation Day, where they took part in a special workshop led by Sue Bailey, Islington’s Waste and Recycling Officer. The day was a valuable opportunity for our pupils to explore how caring for the environment connects deeply with our Catholic values and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST)—particularly the Stewardship of Creation.
Through the workshop, the children learned about the importance of recycling correctly and the impact of contamination on the recycling process. They explored practical ways they can take responsibility for looking after God’s creation, both at school and at home.
This inspiring session helped the children reflect on their role as stewards of the Earth, encouraging them to make thoughtful, sustainable choices in their everyday lives. As Pope Francis reminds us in Laudato Si’, we are all called to care for our common home—and Year 6 have taken this message to heart.
