In Maths this week, pupils continued on with their understanding of Fractions, Decimals & Percentages. We discussed the real-life uses of understanding Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, spending particular time working out items on sale with percentage discounts. We have continued completing daily arithmetic questions to strengthen our number fluency!
In Science, we were experimenting with the relationships between cells and their impacts on bulbs within a simple circuit. The pupils had the opportunity to make a prediction, plan their investigation, conduct the experiment and report on their observations.
In Geography, we researched the different types of energy that are available to use currently. With this new-found information, we carried out presentations to our classmates. There were wonderful presentations on show, one group even turning their presentation into an interactive gameshow!
To conclude the week, we had our Caritas In Action day – the theme of which was Solidarity and the common good. We used this theme to discuss Holocaust Memorial Day which occurred on the 27th of January. Having previously explored ‘The Butterfly’ by Pavel Friedman, we used it as inspiration to create our own poem. We decided to use Caligram poetry as we felt it would be a powerful visual display. We were delighted with how they turned out!
