Year 4 had a super week getting back to school. They have already set high standards for themselves, showing maturity and taking on new challenges.
This week we began our new English text; Manfish, which explores the life of inventor and explorer Jacques Cousteau. The children used their prediction and inference skills to discuss what might happen in this book. They were captivated by the beautiful illustrations and intrigued by the idea of someone who turned a love of the sea into a lifelong adventure. As we began to read, the children engaged in rich discussions about Cousteau’s curiosity, determination, and how his early experiences shaped his future. They also began to explore themes of environmental responsibility, invention, and perseverance — all through the lens of this inspiring figure.
We’re excited to dive deeper into Manfish over the coming weeks and see how Jacques Cousteau’s story unfolds!
