This week in RE, our Year 4 pupils took on a deeply meaningful task: retelling the events of Jesus’ crucifixion and His loving sacrifice through poetry. We have been reflecting on the immense love Jesus showed by giving His life for us. Through their poems, the children have explored themes of sacrifice, forgiveness and hope, expressing their understanding of this pivotal moment in our faith.
Using vivid imagery and heartfelt words, the children captured the sorrow of Good Friday and the hope that comes with Jesus’ ultimate act of love. Some focused on the emotions of those present at the crucifixion — Mary’s grief, the centurion’s realisation as well as the disciples’ fear. Their poetry not only demonstrates their creativity but also their growing understanding of how Jesus’ sacrifice is a testament to God’s infinite love for us all. Below are some wonderful examples of their work – each one a moving reflection on the power of faith and love.
We are incredibly proud of Year 4 for their thoughtful and reverent engagement with this task. As we approach Easter, may their words remind us of the great love that surrounds us and the hope we celebrate in Jesus’ resurrection.
