It’s been another exciting and enriching week in Year 4, filled with opportunities for our children to grow in faith, knowledge and community spirit. On Wednesday, we celebrated Care for Creation Eco Day, a special time dedicated to thinking about how we can protect and respect the world God has gifted us. The children looked fantastic in their green and nature-inspired outfits. During the day, we took part in a brilliant interactive recycling workshop with Sue Bailey from Islington Waste and Recycling. The children were thoroughly engaged as they learned how to reduce waste, reuse materials and recycle responsibly. This tied in beautifully with our focus on the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Care for Creation, inspired by the Book of Genesis and Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, which reminds us of our responsibility to look after our common home. Following this, the children created thoughtful and colourful posters that reflected their learning and commitment to caring for the Earth. These pieces of work showed not only their creativity but also their understanding of how faith calls us to action.
In RE this week, we explored the theme of ecumenism, learning how different Christian churches work together in solidarity to promote the common good. The children had some insightful reflections on how collaboration and shared values can make a real difference in the world. On Thursday afternoon, Year 4 had the peaceful opportunity to attend Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament our school chapel. It was a calm and reflective moment in our busy week, allowing the children time to pray and quietly connect with God. The monstrance enabled us to adore and focus on the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
We were also proud to see some of our Year 4 pupils representing the school at sports tournaments on both Thursday and Friday. They showed great teamwork, determination and school spirit. W
ell done to all who took part!
