This week in Year 4, we travelled back thousands of years to explore the world as Abraham would have known it. Our Religion lesson took us through the ancient cities of Ur, Haran, and Canaan, as we imagined what life was like during this time. To help us step into Abraham’s shoes, our phase area was transformed into a meditative walk-through experience. Each display represented a different place Abraham visited on his journey, filled with images, artefacts, and information about the history, culture, and religion of the time.
As we quietly moved through each station, we reflected on the challenges Abraham might have faced; leaving his home in Ur, travelling through the desert lands of Haran, and finally arriving in the promised land of Canaan. We thought about how people lived, what they believed in and how different life was in each place. The children were encouraged to think deeply about Abraham’s faith and trust in God. This was a calm, thoughtful lesson that helped bring history to life in a memorable way.
🌟 St Joseph’s Poetry Competition 🌟
We are very excited to launch our St Joseph’s Poetry Competition for pupils in Years 1–6 to celebrate National Poetry Day!
Each child will be asked to create a poem at home, inspired by one of the Catholic Social Teaching principles that has been specially allocated to their year group. This is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to reflect on their faith, values, and creativity while developing their writing skills.
✨ Each year group will have a winner- winning a Book Fair Voucher!!
📌 Deadline for submissions: Thursday, 2nd October
We can’t wait to see the inspiring and creative poems our children will produce.
Good luck to all of our budding poets!
Thank you so much for your continued support!
