On Wednesday afternoon, Year 3 set off on an exciting adventure to the theatre to see Matilda the Musical! Armed with snacks and endless enthusiasm, we travelled on the tube and arrived at Cambridge Theatre. For many of us, it was our very first time seeing a live musical—and what a treat it turned out to be!
Based on the beloved book by Roald Dahl, Matilda tells the story of a clever little girl with extraordinary powers who dares to stand up to the terrible Miss Trunchbull and change her own destiny. From the moment the curtains opened, we were hooked. The set was vibrant and creative, the music was catchy and full of energy, and the actors—especially the children—were absolutely amazing!
Some of our favourite songs included “Naughty,” “When I Grow Up,” and “Revolting Children.” There were lots of giggles during the hilarious moments, and even a few gasps during the more dramatic scenes. Miss Trunchbull was scary in the best way possible, and Matilda was truly inspiring with her bravery and brilliance.
After the show, we had a chance to talk about our favourite parts on the journey back. Some students loved the trampoline scene, others couldn’t stop singing the songs, and a few even said they wanted to become actors one day!
We all agreed it was an unforgettable experience! ✨
