In Art, Year 3 were going back to basics and looking at the fundamentals of sketching this week. We looked at how we can break down any picture into simple shapes, and build beautiful pieces of artwork from simple sketches. The children had a go ‘shape hunting’ – looking around the school for objects full of interesting shapes and then sketched them.
On a cold afternoon, the Year 3’s had an opportunity to become “twitchers” or avid ‘bird watchers’. Both Green and Emerald class quietly scurried the school grounds to catch a glimpse of the birdlife that is within the school. Using both binoculars and recording sheets; to record bird behaviour and the number of bird species together at one time.
