This week in Year 3, we had an amazing Care for Creation Day all about looking after our planet! We were very lucky to be visited by Sue Bailey from Islington Council. Sue taught us why recycling is so important to help protect the environment. We learned how recycling saves energy, reduces waste, and keeps our Earth happy.
After that, we made our own pledges — promises about what we will do to help the environment. Some of us promised to recycle more at home, others said they would turn off lights when not needed or pick up litter. It felt great to think about how small actions can make a big difference!
One of the most exciting parts was meeting ‘Grandmother Willow’, a robot decorated to look like a wise, magical tree character. She reminded us to take care of nature and always be kind to plants and animals.
Later, we went outside to explore our school grounds and find beautiful leaves. We used these leaves to make leaf prints and create amazing artwork. It was fun to see all the different shapes and colours nature gave us.
We all had a wonderful day learning how to care for creation and being inspired to protect our planet every day!
