Now that we are experiencing this lovely warm weather Year 3 enjoyed their library time outside this week in the fantastic library facilities. Children’s experience with books plays an important role in their reading journey. Many children enter school with thousands of hours of experience with books. This week we discussed the importance of reading for pleasure and highlighted how beneficial it is in becoming a confident and engaged reader.
In other areas of the curriculum, Year 3 moved on to their final PE topic of the year which is ‘Rounders’. This week’s lesson focused on ball skills, this was an opportunity for pupils to revise ball skills that they had learned during the year and then apply them to the bat and field setting. Pupils focused on perfecting their catching skills which will aid them as they progress through the topic.
