What a busy start to the new term, we haven’t even had time to update our blog!
We have been so excited to start our new topic all about China! We have been enjoying sharing all the posters and models which the children completed for their homework and we have already learnt lots of fun facts – did you know that the Great Wall of China is over 5,000 miles long and took over 2000 years to complete! We also have some new additions to our classes – but they only eat bamboo! Can you guess who they are?!
In science, we have learnt about the importance of our skeleton and the names of some bones in our body. We have also been comparing vertebrates and invertebrates and learning how our muscles work.
We are now confident using the grid method to solve multiplication problems. Please keep practising your times tables using Times Table Rockstars at home – we will be giving prizes for those children with the fastest times.
Taking inspiration from China, we have written poems about dragons incorporating poetic techniques such as rhyme, alliteration, and similes.
We were also treated to a fantastic orchestra performance from the students at Highgate School. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to and learning about different instruments and some even left the hall as qualified conductors!
