Over the last couple of weeks, Year 2 took part in our whole-school poetry competition, and what a wonderful celebration of creativity it has been! Every pupil from Years 1 – 6 was invited to write their own poem at home, exploring one of the Catholic Social Teaching principles. Our Year 2 theme was Solidarity and Peace, and the children reflected beautifully on what it means to stand together, care for one another, and help make the world a more peaceful place.
We were so impressed with the thoughtful ideas, powerful words, and imagination in every poem submitted. A huge congratulations to Gosha in Diamond Class, who was chosen as the Year 2 winner – what an achievement! We are so proud of everyone who took part and shared their wonderful work.
As part of the competition, each class has been sharing their poems and celebrating their winners, reminding us all that through our words and actions, we can help to build peace and unity in our world.
A big thank you also to Ms. McFlynn and our school governors for their generosity in providing all the children with delicious treats this week. An excellent way to round off a ‘sweet’ week!
