This week in Year 2, we had an exciting visit from Father George! He told us all about Pope Francis and why he chose his name. It was fascinating to learn that Pope Francis chose the name in honour of St Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love of animals and dedication to helping the poor. Father George explained that both men share a deep commitment to caring for creation and promoting peace.
We listened carefully as he shared stories of St Francis, who talked to the animals and believed that all creatures are part of God’s family. Father George encouraged us to be kind to our environment and to always lend a helping hand to those in need. It made me think about how we can be more caring in our own lives, whether it’s picking up litter or helping a friend.
In Science this week, we had a fantastic time learning about the properties of different materials. We explored items from our classroom, such as plastic, wood, and metal. We sorted them based on whether they were hard or soft, shiny or dull, and waterproof or absorbent. This hands-on activity helped us understand how different materials can be used for various purposes.
Finally, we want to give a huge congratulations to Yellow Class for achieving 100% attendance this week! It shows our dedication and enthusiasm for learning. Well done, everyone!
