This week in Year 2, we looked at the Catholic Social Teaching- Dignity of Workers. We began by thinking about what we want to be when we grow up. Everyone in our class had different dreams! Some of us wanted to be zoo keepers, others wanted to be tree surgeons, and some wanted to be teachers. We talked about how it is very important for everyone to be treated fairly, no matter what job they do.
As we talked, we realised that some people do a lot of hard work but do not get enough money for what they do. This is not fair! We all agreed that everyone deserves to be paid fairly for their jobs. We also learnt about Fairtrade. When we see the Fairtrade sticker on food, it means that the people who grew and made that food were paid fairly for their work.
Everyone’s work is important, and together, we can make choices that show we care about fairness every day!
