This week in Year 2 has been filled with exciting activities as we celebrated Care for Creation Day! We started off the day by writing poems about the beautiful world around us. Our hearts are full of gratitude and we treasure nature in all its forms. Our poems help us to remember to cherish what God has created for us every day. We also transforming ourselves into busy bees, buzzing around the classrooms to see if we could pollinate the flowers there! It was a fantastic way to remember how essential bees are for our environment and our food chain.
After our bee adventure, we gathered to support Miss Sophia in creating seed pouches and herb bundles. We carefully picked herbs, learning about their names and smells. This activity not only helped us understand where our food comes from but also taught us the importance of caring for our planet by growing our plants. These items were sold at the end of the school day to raise money for a nature trail.
Later we lay back on the grass for some cloud watching. It was so much fun spotting different shapes in the clouds and using our imaginations to create stories about them. We spotted a tortoise, a piranha and a crocodile amongst others of God’s creatures.
This week Year 2 have also had the very special opportunity to see the Blessed Sacrament in our chapel. It was such a beautiful and reverential occasion, providing a moment of peace and enabling us all time to pray and connect with God.
What a week it has been! We are so grateful for the chance to learn and grow together. Let’s keep caring for our world.
