Welcome back everyone! It’s been a wonderful first week of the new term, and the children have settled back into our classroom routines beautifully. We’re so proud of how quickly they’ve remembered expectations and shown enthusiasm for their learning.
In English, we’ve started using adjectives in our writing to make our sentences more exciting. The children have really enjoyed experimenting with describing words as we began our new class text — Rapunzel! It’s been lovely to hear their imaginative ideas as we retell the story in our own words.
In Maths, we’ve been learning about greater than, less than, and equal to, using the symbols <, >, and = to compare numbers. The children have had fun using crocodile mouths to help them remember which number is greater!
In History, we’ve begun ‘My Local Area’ topic. We talked about places we visit often, like school and the park, and places we visit less often, like the museum or the seaside. It was lovely hearing everyone’s ideas and connections to our community.
We’ve also been working hard in Phonics, revisiting our sounds and practising blending. Please keep practising phonics at home it really does make a huge difference to your child’s reading confidence!
In Religion, we learned about the Annunciation, when the Angel Gabriel visited Mary. The children thought carefully about how Mary might have felt surprised, joyful, maybe even a little nervous and wrote beautiful reflections about her visit to Elizabeth too.
A reminder about our trip to Lambeth Palace that everyone has completed the consent and Parent Pay form so all students can participate. We are all super excited for our trip!
It’s been a busy and joyful week full of learning and laughter. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
