What a fantastic beginning we’ve had to our Year 1 adventure!
We’ve been diving into our class text ‘Major Glad, Major Dizzy’ and enjoying every page. The children have loved exploring the story together and sharing their ideas. Our writing journey has kicked off and we are making sure to use a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces in our simple sentences. Phonics is well underway too. Our students are already making great progress with their sounds, and it’s wonderful to see their confidence growing each day.
In Maths, we’ve been working hard on number bonds from 0–10, using games, manipulatives and activities to build strong foundations.
Science has been full of curiosity and creativity. We’ve started exploring the human body, labelling and identifying parts of the body, head and face. One highlight was using natural materials to create our very own nature faces. It was amazing to see everyone’s imaginative designs!
Home readers and homework books have now gone home. Please support your child by reading regularly and completing their homework—it makes such a difference to their learning.
In Religion we have explored the ‘Creation Story’ and sharing ways we can care for our world at school and within the community.
Thank you for helping us make this such a positive start to the year. We can’t wait to see all the exciting learning that’s still to come!
