Happy New Year and welcome back to school! We hope that you enjoyed the Christmas holidays and are rested, relaxed and ready for this exciting new term!
This week we have been consolidating our previous leaning and beginning our new Topics. In Topic we started our learning about The Home Front. This is a topic based on World War 2. We had the opportunity to explore new vocabulary relating to this topic, share what we already know and ask questions about what we would like to find out.
In Science this week we concluded our learning about materials by conducting a test that focused on absorbency. We had to consider how we could keep the test fair so that we could find out which material was the most absorbent. We tested a sponge, paper, a plastic bag and cotton wool. We found that the cotton wool was the most absorbent of all these different materials.
In Maths we have been learning about multiplication. We have been using a range of concrete resources to help us represent different multiplication sentences. We then challenged ourselves in our learning by representing these number sentences through drawings on white boards. Can you teach your adults about multiplication?
Well done Year 2 for a super first week back at school!
