The children of Year 4 have spent the week preparing for their prayer service with the theme being the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. It was an opportunity for them to reflect on their faith journey and how He had brought us Jesus to show us how to live in love and peace with one another. As the children acted out the story of Jesus’ baptism, they held up a picture of a dove, just as a dove descended upon Jesus, a symbol of the peace He brought to the world. They then drew their interpretations of the baptism on pictures of doves to remember this special part of Jesus’ faith journey. Baptism is a process that washes away our sins so the children have been practising hymns related to water and the story of Jesus’ baptism like Come to the Water and Oceans. Their singing focuses on how everyone is invited to come to the kingdom of God no matter who they are.
