This week in Year 1 we celebrated National Poetry Day. KS1 were treated to a special visit from poet Kate Wakeling who was the winner of the CLiPPA, the award for the best children’s poetry book. We enjoyed poems from her marvellous book ‘Moon Juice’!
In English we were inspired by Kate and wrote our own senses poems. We used fantastic adjectives in our writing and enjoyed sharing them with each other.
Also this week we had a visit from former Wimbledon player Jo Ward. She treated us to a tennis workshop where she taught us some exciting games to try and to improve our tennis skills – with blue balloons!!
