We recently had a fantastic session on Online Safety with our parents, delivered by specialist Katy Potts. It was an informative and engaging event, with many parents joining their children for lessons led by their class teachers.
Here are a few important takeaways from the meeting:
– Set up clear rules with your children: Establishing expectations for online behavior is key to helping your child navigate the digital world safely.
– Device control: Always ensure the device your child is using is under your constant control. You should know the PIN, own the device, and regularly check the content they have access to.
– Device-free moments: Make sure to have device-free times during the day. Consistency is crucial in helping children create healthy habits.
– Choose good platforms and tech: Teach your children how to find valuable and safe online content. Be selective about the platforms they use.
– Parental controls: Don’t forget to use parental controls to further ensure your child’s safety online.
