Nursery have had an exciting week discovering more adventures under the sea. The children came in on Monday to discover a couple of large, sparkly fish tails in their classroom! Some of them suggested they might belong to a mermaid. We then read our key text: ‘The Little Mermaid’. We did a great job of retelling the story with masks, puppets and figures in the small world areas.
We made some stunning decorative mermaids with the playdough. In maths we pretended to be mer people and worked on adding ‘1 more’ to our shell collections.
We have thoroughly enjoyed acting out stories in our sea world role play areas.
As part of our ‘Switched on Science’ learning we looked at boats, and talked about floating and sinking. We investigated which materials might make the best pirate boat; and we had a go at making and testing our own. Didn’t we do a wonderful job!
