Pearl Class have nearly finished their ‘Taste of the World’ topic, and what better way to celebrate their learning than an international picnic! We set up our picnic blankets in Waterlow Park. We were extremely lucky with the weather – which improved nicely just in time for our visit. Many of our families joined us for this special event.
First we shared some delicious food and drink. There were all sorts of special things to try. Representing Asia we had snacks from Taiwan and Japan, some lovely Chinese vegetarian spring rolls, and mini poppadoms from India.
We had a special Albanian pastry called Pella , snacks from Poland and Romania, and Turkish delight from Turkey. The Churros from Spain were lovely too. We had a wonderful donut called Pinkaso from Ghana, and African Hibiscus juice (Subolo) with pineapple, ginger and black pepper!
After our refreshments we played with some bubbles, then went into the exciting playground area for a play. Some of us played football. Finally we said hello to the ducks on the pond before heading home or back to school. What a lovely afternoon we had!
