It is the end of term and Pearl class have been celebrating all the learning they have been doing this year. We have enjoyed looking back in our Special Books to recall all the topics and the exciting work we have done.
We have ended our ‘Taste of the World’ journey in South America! We have 3 children in our class who have family roots in Colombia, and we had a very special visit from one of our mums on Monday. She gave us an amazing presentation about Colombia. We first looked at it on the map, and talked about the capital city.
The girls showed us their Colombian clothes, flag and football shirt and we talked about the colours on the flag.
We learnt about what it is like in Colombia. We discovered there are tropical beaches and rainforests.
We learnt that in Colombia you can find very precious stones, such as emeralds. We even got to see some close up on a beautiful piece of jewellery!
We also looked at a very special Colombian handbag made of leather.
We were then super excited to try some delicious Colombian food!
We tried some Empanadas: made with a corn dough then filled with potatoes – delicious! One of the other mummies had also made us some Pandebono – which you can have warm with hot chocolate. They are made with cassava starch, cheese, eggs and sometimes guava paste. We also got to try some Festivales cookies that were biscuits with different fillings. Wow – the food was simply delicious! We all agreed it was the best Monday morning ever!
The next day we had more end of term fun: our EYFS party day! Dancing, eating, having fun and celebrating our very special and wonderful year in Nursery!
