Pearl Class arrived on Monday to find another beanstalk growing in their classroom! This time there were some gigantic clues: giant boots, footsteps and objects all helped us to guess that there might be a giant somewhere around! The giant was from our key text: ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.
We created some wonderful beanstalks with paint, collage and playdough.
We did a fabulous job of acting out the story.
We learnt about the lifecycle of a bean plant and acted out the stages with dance movements.
We also explored other types of seeds, and we planted some cress seeds to compare how they grow. We learnt about plants that we can eat, and discussed the health benefits. We threaded Jack and the Beanstalk harps and leaves, and also made marks in some ‘magic soil’.
We investigated different types of beans and herbs, and made our own bean salads.
On World Book Day we had lots of fun dressing up as a word. We visited the book club and talked about our favourite books.
The finale of the week was our ‘Mother’s Day Picnic’. We had a very special extended stay and play session, and we surprised our mummies at the end with a special song to express our love. We ate yummy food, played, created and loved having our photo taken in the photo booths!
