On Tuesday, our Year 5 pupil chaplains and some members of staff from our school were privileged to attend the Festival of Hope liturgy at Westminster Cathedral, a truly moving and inspiring event led by Cardinal Vincent Nichols. The cathedral came alive with drama, prayer, music and powerful messages that encouraged all present to reflect on what it means to be people of faith and hope in today’s world.
One message that stood out was: “Those who want heaven the most, serve the world the best.” This powerful reminder challenges us all to put our faith into action, not just by looking toward the future, but by living with compassion, justice and love here and now.
The liturgy brought together schools, communities and pilgrims from across the diocese in a shared celebration of our journey as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Through dramatic performances and heartfelt prayer, the event helped everyone connect more deeply with the message of unity, service and faith.
A proud moment for our school came when Cardinal Vincent personally posed with our model of the pilgrims logo, which beautifully represented the theme of the festival. He praised the creativity and care behind our work, commenting on how powerfully we had brought the idea of pilgrims of hope to life. His kind words were a wonderful recognition of the hard work and faith of our staff and pupils.
The Festival of Hope was not just a liturgy—it was an unforgettable experience that reminded us that hope is something we live and share together. We left Westminster Cathedral filled with joy, gratitude and a renewed commitment to being people of light in the world.
