As a celebration of Black History Month in Year 4 this week the children had the chance to taste a traditional South African dish, passed down from Mr Charles’ Mother. We made Bobotie and yellow rice. Why not see if the children could re-create the dish at home during the half term break? We also looked at the Wall of Respect, which celebrated black creativity in Chicago in 1967. The children then drew portraits of their favourite black musicians, sportsmen, actors and inspirational people. Ask them at home this week, who they chose to put on our Wall Of Respect for 2017.
In Maths this week we have been focusing on column addition and subtraction. The children have been role-playing going to a café, and finding change using formal written methods.
To end our last week of term, we had a wonderful treat to get us all in the mood for Halloween. Eve (Taylor’s Nan) came in to share some of her wonderful artwork, and teach us all how to make Halloween lantern.
We hope you all have a lovely, enjoyable and restful half term, ready to come back with lots of energy for the build-up to Christmas.
