We were thrilled to welcome Paralympian Georgia Carmichael to our school this week for a truly inspiring day.
Georgia Carmichael is a British Paralympic athlete who began her sporting career in kayaking, winning national titles and World Cup golds by age 15. After a life-changing brain injury and spinal stroke left her temporarily paralysed, she showed incredible resilience by relearning how to walk, talk and train. Georgia now competes in para sport, shares her story to inspire others and is working toward future Paralympic success.
Georgia began with a powerful assembly, sharing her journey through challenges, training and triumphs. She spoke about resilience, goal-setting and the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive people.
Our pupils then took part in high-energy fitness circuits led by Georgia. It was a privilege to have our students being trained and supported by a World Champion and GB Paralympian.
During the Q&A, pupils asked thoughtful questions, such as:
“You went through some dark times – who supported you?”
Georgia explained how her family, friends and coaches helped her stay strong.
“With such a busy training schedule, how do you find time for loved ones?”
Georgia shared that it’s all about balance and making the most of time together.
Georgia’s visit left a lasting impact. Her message was clear: with determination, support and self-belief, anything is possible.
