This week Year One participated in Safer Internet Day. The Digital Leaders from KS2 came to Year One to help the children learn about different ways they can be safe while being online. Year One discussed the different ways they use the internet in their daily lives, some ideas included playing games, watching videos and doing Numbots. With help from the Digital Leaders, Year One identified what to do when they are feeling worried, upset or anxious about something that they have seen online and who they can talk to about it. Year One made some fantastic posters about Safer Internet Day to help spread the important information.
As it is the end of the half term, Year One have come to the end of their unit of work on The Secret of Black Rock. Year One have enjoyed reading this book and have written some fantastic postcards as their big write assessments. Year One had to imagine that they are the main character, Erin, and write a postcard about her adventure. Year One have used their skills of expanded noun phrases and alliteration to describe what Erin could see, hear and how she was feeling. Excellent work, Year One!
