Wow! What a busy week in Year One!
In our science lesson this week, we have been exploring our senses with the focus on our ears and listening. We went outside on a listening walk to find out if we could hear lots of different sounds. Year One could hear “wind blowing”, “children playing”, “building tools” and lots of “laughing”. We also discussed the changing of the seasons and what happens to the trees, we explored our woodland area to investigate for any signs of Autumn.
For R.E, we were fortunate that Sister Anne came in to help us celebrate St Francis’ Day, by telling us a story all about who St Francis was and what he believed in. Thank you, Sister Anne!
We also looked at Pope Francis’ letter “Laudato Si” and discussed how it is so important to take care of our common home and the world. We made our own promises to take care of nature and our school.
Year One have loved being outdoors this week and enjoying the last of the good weather. We have been super active in our P.E. sessions where we have been practicing our jumping and landing skills. As well as enjoying our outdoor learning area for some “Funky Fingers Friday” activities and practicing our tricky words from Phonics.
Excellent work Year One! We are looking forward to another fantastic week of wonderful learning!
