It was wonderful to see our pupils return rested and rejuvenated after a well-deserved half-term break.
This week, we have begun many exciting new projects. We started by introducing a new Maths project based on theme parks. The pupils were given a budget of £5 million, having to plan the expenditure required to build the park, pavements, amenities and legal requirements; such as having a certain amount of bins or first aid stations. The pupils will consistently consolidate their understanding of the Maths learned throughout their time at St Joseph’s to complete the project.
In Science, we have begun our new topic of evolution and inheritance. We looked at creating a timeline of the earth’s existence paired with the major events since its creation.
In English, we had the exciting opportunity to meet Cath Howe (a famous children’s author promoting her new book, ‘My Life on Fire’). Cath spoke about empathy, and how she must have an empathetic understanding of her characters to really show them in their true light. We had the opportunity to ask Cath some ‘burning’ questions, as well as being led by Cath in techniques to add detail to a creative writing piece.
Finally, we have been practicing relentlessly for our production! Please continue to practice lines and songs at home to best prepare our pupils for the stage!
