This week, our pupils competed in a class poetry competition. We asked our pupils to learn a poem off-by-heart and recite it in front of their peers, culminating in a winner and runner-up being chosen from each class. The winners will go on to compete in our school’s Poetry Afternoon; the runner-ups will do a group performance on the same afternoon! Therefore, without further ado, a huge congratulations to our two winners: Akira of Amethyst Class and Oisin of Violet Class.
Next, an equally huge congratulations to our runner-ups: Isla of Amethyst Class, Alex and Deborah of Violet Class.
It is incredibly important that we prepare our children to succeed in life after St Joseph’s, with that in mind, we are aware that a judgement of a person is made within the first 20 seconds of meeting; by promoting the spoken language as a key skill, we aim to give our pupils the best possible chance at succeeding in whatever ventures they move on to after Primary education.
