The last two weeks our pupils were participating in the Young Speaker’s Challenge where they were tasked with creating a 2-3 minute speech based on the Catholic Social Teaching value of “The Dignity of Workers.” This culminated with the grand finale on Wednesday where the champions of each class competed against each other in front of KS1, KS2 and parents. The purpose of the challenge was to develop the spoken language of our pupils whilst also building their confidence in public speaking – a skill that they will continue to work on when they leave us for secondary school. We are so proud of all of our pupils for participating and putting in so much effort in creating their speeches and delivering it. Additionally, we are very proud of Diego and Kehinde, our Year 6 pupils who made it to the final, for delivering their speeches with such conviction and passion.
On Friday, we had the privilege of watching Capital City College, Islington, perform at St Joseph’s where they gave us an insight into Charles Dickens and his life. The pupils loved watching other students perform and engage with them. Thank you again to Capital City College, Islington, for coming to our school to show how powerful the arts truly are!
