As of today, Year 6 have just completed their final Autumn 1 half-term at St Joseph’s!
This week in Science, the pupils carried on with their unit-of-work based on Light. We carried out an investigation where the pupils explored the effects of moving an object closer to a light-source, and how it effects the shadow casted from the object. The pupils moved the object in 10cm increments, then marked the tip of the shadow before repeating the process. The trend of the experiment was that the closer an object gets to a light-source, the larger the shadow casted. The pupils then deduced that due to the object getting closer to the light-source, less light could penetrate, meaning the absence of light grew.
With Halloween in mind, both classes delved into the horror genre in their class readers. What’s nicer than reading a scary book, by the (virtual) fire, shielded from the dreary autumnal weather?
Have a wonderful half-term, and we cannot wait to see you all back on Monday the 4th of November!
