This week started on a truly exciting foot. Our Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to see birds of prey up close and personal. Alan Ames, our presenter, has spent his whole life pursuing his passion for nature and adventure, and was once described by a national newspaper as “a cross between David Attenborough and Indiana Jones!” Our pupils were in awe at Sybil the Harris Hawk & Sparky the Barn Owl. We learnt all about how these wonderful creatures have adapted to maximise their chance of survival in the wild (linking it to Darwin’s survival of the fittest). This talk linked perfectly into our Science unit of Evolution & Inheritance.
Today, our Year 6 students came together to decorate the school Christmas tree, creating a beautiful and meaningful celebration to begin the Advent season. As they hung each ornament, they listened to biblical stories that highlighted the symbolism behind the decorations.
