This week in Year 6, we focussed quite a lot on current affairs. We discussed at length the different approaches we are seeing on the streets of London, and the wider UK, with regards to protesting for a cause. We went on to talk about what they deem to be the most effective form of protest – is it to cause as much disruption as possible to gain media attention but potentially alienate supporters? Or, is it to protest via writing letters and marches which may not have the same coverage but gain many public supporters? The pupils then debated their thoughts in a group with the class, focussing on being persuasive and confident in the spoken and unspoken word.
The pupils concluded the debate by writing a formal position that they hold on the matter, to be displayed in our phase areas for all to see.
