This week, our Year 6 pupils were invited to a very special assembly, led by Sister Anne. The topic of the assembly was CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) and CST (Catholic Social Teaching). CAFOD are an international development charity who reach out to people living in poverty with practical help, whatever their religion or culture. CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and part of Caritas International. Seeing as it is the season of Lent, we felt it was important that our pupils reflected on all the wonderful things they have in life, as we know, there are a lot of people around the world who are worse off than we are.
We looked at the principles of CST: Human Dignity, Common Good, Solidarity, Subsidiarity, Stewardship, Promoting Peace, Participation, Distributive Justice & Preferential Option for the poor. These are principles that we aim our pupils to develop as they transition into secondary education.
Finally, we have started our Change for Change campaign which will be led predominantly by Years 5 & 6.
