This week in Science, the pupils were experimenting the theory of ‘upthrust’ as well as density. The pupils learned that air is less dense than water and therefore, will float on water (buoyant). The pupils then tested what happens when you push a balloon into the water, we then investigated the force of upthrust. We found that the larger the surface area of the balloon, the more uptrhust that was observed.
In Topic, we carried on with the Impacts of War. We began by labelling a timeline to gather thoughts on what was happening around the world at the time of the wars. We then looked up/researched Memorial sites in our locality that we can visit to pay respects.
The Institute of Imagination took us for a fantastic interactive session where the pupils had the opportunity to create their own ‘Junk Bots’ out of recyclable materials. With the use of motors, the Junk Bots were able to move! Pupils will get the opportunity to put their finishing touches on their Junk Bots next week before they can show and tell the school about their creations.
Next week we are celebrating Maths Week! Maths Week is all about boosting the profile of Maths and gaining confidence in the subject. If you do any fun/creative Maths work at home, be sure to upload some images to Google Classroom.
