This week, the pupils started a new Science topic – The Titanic. The pupils began the topic by learning about the historic ship and its eventual fate. The keyword of the lesson was “buoyancy.” We explored the meaning and how density affects something’s buoyancy. We consolidated this understanding by exploring what happens when a candle/playdough is placed in water; an unpeeled and peeled orange and scrunched tinfoil outside/inside water. The pupils recognised that when the items contained pockets of air, they were able to float due to air being less dense than water.
In PE, the pupils began their new topic of Football. To begin the unit of work, we started our unit by learning how to dribble alongside why dribbling is necessary in football.
