On Thursday Year 6 visited Islington Central Library to take part in a workshop and exhibition focusing on Anne Frank and what we can learn from her legacy. We were extremely privileged to see photographs of Anne, taken by her father Otto, depicting her normal childhood: playing games, playing with friends and trips to the beach. It made hearing her story of going into hiding and eventually being taken to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp all the more moving. The children showed sensitivity and maturity when discussing Anne’s story, as well as considering discrimination and prejudice in society today. Despite understanding the horrific tragedies from the past, we agreed that lessons still need to be learnt in treating people equally and with respect.
