This very special week began with an incredibly important workshop delivered by Tim from Growing Against Violence. In preparation for secondary school, and in turn, the independence that comes along with it, Tim spoke to our pupils about what a friend is vs a friendly nature. Tim spoke about his experience in the Met Police working on a justice against gangs taskforce, and how gangs can target young people by being friendly, offering money or even protecting our local areas. Tim gave our pupils valuable advice on what to do in these situations.
The week concluded with a celebration of faith in St Joseph’s Church, where we had our launch day for the Jubilee Year. The Jubilee Year is a special event within the Catholic Church that comes around every 25 years! This Jubilee Year’s theme is “Pilgrims of Hope.” The Mass was a beautiful celebration of hope for the year and the future coupled with our amazing new school song. It was fantastic seeing how invested our pupils are in continuing on their faith journey and coming together as a school and Catholic community to pray for hope.
