As always, we had another extremely successful week in Year 6. We discussed the importance of mindset, attitude and work ethic when working towards any goal.
In English, the pupils have been reading Gill Lewis’ A Story Like The Wind. From this, we have started planning and exploring flashback narratives. Part of this story depicted how a few travellers were lost at sea and were faced with a challenging storm. We drew inspiration from this chapter and decided to do a setting description in the first-person.
In Science, we are looking at classification before moving on to classifying living things. This week, we created a classification key based on specific characteristics of sweets. We discussed the importance of classifying different variations of something and how this helps us determine species, for example, in plants. Obviously, the pupils were allowed some of their sweets after a hard days work!
