This week in English the children have been writing character narratives! The children have been reading the book ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies and had previously been exploring some of the themes of the book including child poverty. The children wrote a character narrative from the perspective of a child who was forced to live on the streets in a dirty city. There were some fantastically written narratives and the children were able to empathise really well with the characters they were writing about.
Year 5 Tanzanite class have been swimming this week and they have made such brilliant progress this week! It will be the turn of Indigo class next week.
On Friday afternoon the children spent some time with their reception buddies and had fun in the sun!
We have also started the second round of the ‘Don’t Freak Out, Just Speak Out!’ challenge and the children have started to independently address their 2 minute speeches to the rest of the class. We encourage as many children as possible to join in and to write a 2 minute speech on any topic that they choose.
