This week we celebrated World Book Day in St Joseph’s School and what a fantastic day we had! The children came in with interesting and thoughtful costumes, so a HUGE thank you to all the parents and carers of Year 5! We know that reading is important and something that should be truly enjoyed. Reading for pleasure is one of the biggest indicators of a child’s future success and we want to see our children develop a life-long habit of reading for pleasure.
In the afternoon, Year 1-6 took part in a whole school quiz which was great fun, Year 5 really know their books!
Also, this week, Year 5 took part in a retreat with Sister Anne, they talked about reconciliation and the importance of this and why this is something special that Catholics take part in. They listened beautifully and had some really thoughtful and reflective answers.
Liza had the honour of visiting Buckingham Palace last week! She wrote and submitted a short story to the BBC 500 Word Story Challenge. Her story was chosen for a special prize, including 500 books and an art mural for the school. Congratulations Liza!
