In Religion this week, Year 5 students have been learning about the importance of the covenants made between God and his people. We have discussed the significance of God’s covenant with Moses and the events at Mount Sinai. Students have begun reflecting on the Ten Commandments and deriving their own meaning. Students worked in small groups and role-played what the commandments look like in action. See pictures below.
In English this term, students have been working very hard to write their own character narrative with a focus on setting descriptions, actions and dialogue. The creativity we have seen from the students has been astounding. They have been going above and beyond to incorporate the writing skills taught this term to produce imaginative and engaging texts. The below photos show just a small portion of work from a few separate students.
In Science, students have been learning about different types of forces. This week, we focused on air resistance. Students conducted an experiment by dropping two different sized paper helicopters and observed which fell faster or which had the least amount of air resistance. The students worked in groups to answer their own investigation question. Students learnt that an object with a larger surface area will experience greater air resistance and as result, fall at a slower pace. Students also learnt that the mass of an object does not impact the rate at which it falls.
