This week in their English lessons the children in Year 5 have been preparing to write survival guides! The children had recently written survival narratives and have now started thinking about the different equipment and resources they would need in order to survive in a rainforest or jungle.
In order to get themselves into the mindset of adventurers the children travelled into the school woodland area and considered what they would need to do to survive if they were stuck there. They thought about how they could gather food and water and how they could create shelter and warmth. There were lots of interesting and creative ideas!
On Tuesday the children visited the Ben Kinsella exhibition in Islington. The children learnt about who Ben Kinsella was and the tragic circumstances which led to his death. The children discussed the dangers of knife crime and spoke about ways they can ensure they are staying safe. It was very informative for all.
On Wednesday the children attended a fantastic Judaism workshop. They were told about Jewish beliefs, celebrations and history. They were shown a copy of ‘The Torah’ which is a Hebrew bible and even tried some Matzah. Some of the children even had a chance to wear a ‘Kippah’. It was a brilliantly delivered workshop and very informative.
